New Horizons

With the start of the new year, I believe that I have discovered a very interesting career opportunity that I’d like to pursue later down the line. This career path comes in the form of IT Consulting. Before I explain what that is, I’d like to explain how I got introduced to it. I am an active member in my school’s Business Professionals of America organization in which I am competing in the Small Business Management team event. In this event, my team and I have been tasked with creating a unique solution for photo business owner Katie Jones, who finds herself overworked and having no time to spend with her family. It is our job as ONYX Consulting to create a unique solution for Ms. Jones so that she can spend quality time with her family, whilst maintaining a steady and growing revenue stream. Throughout the course of this event, I ended up finding great interest in the overall concept of creating solutions for businesses, in other words, consulting. IT consulting revolves around the idea of helping out businesses adapt to the advent of technology so that they can continue to progress. I decided that this is a great path for me as I can continue my growth in technology such as programming. In addition, I can continue doing consulting which is something that fulfils me. And lastly, I can one day create my own IT Consulting firm and begin working for myself. This career fills off all of my boxes and therefore, is a great opportunity for me. I believe that this career opportunity has unlocked new horizons for me as I have finally gotten over the hump of “what do I want to do in the future”.
